Sunday 19 April, 10.30 – 11.30 am: Earth Day (online via Zoom)

“Let us ask forgiveness of the Earth
For all our sins against her:
For our violence and poisonings
Of her beauty.
Let us remember within us the ancient clay,
Holding the memory of seasons,
The passion of the wind,
The fluency of water,
The warmth of fire,
The quiver-touch of the sun
And shadowed sureness of the moon.
That we may awaken,
To live to the full
The dream of the Earth
Who chose us to emerge
And incarnate its hidden night
In mind, spirit, and light.”
John O’Donohue

Join us to observe Earth Day. Led by Laura Dobson. Please email minister@chorltonunitarians.org for the Zoom meeting details.

earth-day

Sunday 12 April, 10.30 – 11.30 am: Easter Sunday

“Quiet friend who has come so far
feel how your breathing makes more space around you.
Let this darkness be a bell tower
and you the bell.
As you ring,
what batters you becomes your strength.
Move back and forth into the change.
What is it like, such intensity of pain?
If the drink is bitter, turn yourself to wine.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

Join us to celebrate Easter Sunday. Led by Julie Wolstenholme and Viv Stott. All welcome.
Please email minister@chorltonunitarians.org for the Zoom meeting details.

Friday 10 April, 7 – 8 pm: Tenebrae Service (online via Zoom)

The Tenebrae (Latin for “shadows” or “darkness”) service of Good Friday represents the sombre nature of the events of the crucifixion. Holy Week holds all the glorious, messy humanity of the world within its story. This service offers us an opportunity to explore our own shadow with the intention of finding insight. Join us to find out what insight it offers you. If you can, please have nine candles or tea lights with you for the service. Led by Sue Cockerill.

Please email minister@chorltonunitarians.org for the Zoom meeting details. All welcome.

Tuesday 7 April, 7.30 – 8.30 pm: Lent Meditation (online on Zoom)

Join us for a meditation using the practice of Lectio Divina, a form of contemplation from the Christian tradition involving reading and reflecting on a piece of scripture. We will use poetry rather than scripture to bring us into a contemplative space. Come and explore your own reflective process as we deepen into silence together.
Led by Sheila Cass. All welcome.
Please email minister@chorltonunitarians.org for the Zoom meeting details.

lectio-2

Sunday 5 April, 10.30 am: Where there is no path – an online gathering led by Tom Grimshaw

“Lead us O God, to see a way where there is no path, give us to hear music when our own songs cease, and when the warm touch of life forsakes us and our courage melts away may we stumble through the darkness unto thee.”
Powell Davies

Join us as Tom Grimshaw leads our reflections on finding grace in difficult times. All welcome.
